[sharp-discuss] problem installing SHARP under linux

Dear Alejandro,

could be a combination of two problems.

First, the hostname the installation (and documentation) is referring
to when talking about machines/computers and SERVER/MASTER is always
what the

  % hostname -s

command is returning. So if your machine darwin.immstr.pasteur.fr is
actually Darwin.immstr.pasteur.fr or you have set up various aliases
in /etc/hosts, you might be in trouble. If you installed the software
using the

  % ./installSHARP -F

switch, everything will be fine. However, if you installed first only
the SERVER and then (by hand) the MASTER using

  % source ./setup.csh
  % adm/bin/newmachine ...

you might have changed the hostname (e.g. using darwin instead of the
correct Darwin). Can you check that you only have a single directory
in $BDG_home/machines - which should be named according to the
'hostname -s' output?

Secondly, it is possible that you forgot to install the MASTER - which
means that the interface can't find a machine that can actually run
SHARP/autoSHARP jobs. Can you check in $BDG_home/machines/darwin that
there is a file called sharp.setup? If not please do

  % cd /where/ever/sharp
  % source ./setup.csh
  % adm/bin/nemachine `hostname -s`

on darwin (to configure this machine as MASTER). Then check (e.g. in
your preferences) that at least the Interactive submission is
possible.

Let us know how it goes ...

Cheers

Clemens
