Dear Clemens,

No, I'm affraid not.

But I found the problem: It is a bad interaction between
firefox and our http proxy.

. We must use a proxy to browse.

. When faced with "http://darwin" in the address bar, firefox asks
the proxy. The proxy's name resolver returns darwin.pasteur.fr
since the proxy is at the toplevel of our domain.

. Konqueror instead asks the local machine to resolve darwin first.
the local machine searches "immstr.pasteur.fr" first which results
   in the good URL

. both firefox and konqueror have "pasteur.fr" in the exception list
for by-passing the proxy for the intranet but I guess konqueror
   is smarter.

Maybe it would be a good idea to ask during configuration what should
be the base URL to use? Or something like that.

I'll just use the workaround of editing .../adm/lib/messages/newuser.SHARP

> % hostname
	darwin.immstr.pasteur.fr

> % hostname -s
	darwin

> % hostname -d
	immstr.pasteur.fr

Cheers,
   Zac
