Oops, sorry that was for DNA... For RNA it would be:

alias coot2buster="sed -e 's/ \(.\)r \(.\)/  \1 \2/' "
alias buster2coot="sed -e 's/  \(.\) \([UV]\)/ \1r \2/' "
